ADOPTED! Black Jack is a Great Dane that is between 1 and 2 years old. He is very sweet and will be super easy to train. He gets along with other dogs too. BJ comes with a free wellness exam from Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital.

Our local animal shelter always has over 70 dogs, several puppies, over 30 cats and kittens available for adoption. There are many others waiting for their chance to get on the adoption floor so please consider adding a furry friend to your family. The fee to adopt a dog is only $40 and just $20 for a cat.

Check out all of the dogs, puppies, cats and kittens at the shelter in the videos below.

Now through the end of October, Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital is starting a drive to Chip Texarkana by micro-chipping your pet . For each pet that is chipped, $10 will be donated to the local animal rescue or local animal shelter of your choice.

There are many different breeds of dogs at the shelter. Check out the video below that shows all of the dogs on the adoption floor. Beagles, Chihuahuas and more. Small, medium or large...whatever size you are looking for you can find at our local animal shelter.

All animals adopted from the shelter must be spayed or neutered--its the law. Spays cost $89-$104 and neuters are $76-$92. Prices depend on the weight of the animal.

Here are all of the dogs and puppies on the adoption floor:

This is a new arrival is STILL in the same spot this week. I guess he is waiting for a spot to open on the adoption floor or someone to walk by and adopt him.

These animals need loving, walks, brushing and attention. They need to feel special, if only for 5 or 10 minutes. Please consider adopting a pet. These animals have great potential, they just need a chance to show you.

Provide a Pet a Pad is sponsored by our friends at Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital. Thank you to Dr. Stacey Hendershott and her husband Ben Hendershott, who is a Registered Veterinary Technician, as well as the great staff at the clinic. They truly are your other family doctor. Every Tuesday we have a dog in our Power 95.9 Studios from the local animal shelter in hopes of finding it a new home. It is always a dog because we (Wes and Mimi) are allergic to cats.

Our local shelter usually has over 100 dogs and over 30 cats available for adoption every day. There are many more animals located in the holding areas "downstairs" that are either waiting for their owners to reclaim them or hoping for a spot on the adoption floor to open. There were only a few adoptions last week which means there were a lot of animals that had to be euthanized. Adoption fees are only $40 for dogs and $20 for cats. All shelter animals must be spayed or neutered after they are adopted, if not before. To see more of the adoptable animals visit the shelter at 203 Harrison in Texarkana, Arkansas or check out their website at AnimalCareAdoptionCenter.org.

Did you know that one unspayed dog and her offspring, can reproduce over 65,000 dogs in just six years. You do not have to wait until your pet is 6 months old to get them fixed. Pediatric spay and neuter is available in Texarkana. Check with the great folks at Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital!
