The Texarkana Animal Care and Adoption Center is holding it's Clear The Shelters' event on Saturday.

This month there is no adoption fees at the shelter in Texarkana. Some of the dogs have already been spayed or neutered and others still need their vetting.

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. Just in time for a huge influx of kittens at the shelter because so many cats are not spayed and neutered in our community and this seems to be the time of year when many litters are born.

Archer is approximately one and one-half years old. He is a Shepherd/Lab mix. Beautiful and mellow. Huggable and sweet. Walks good on a leash.

Crash is a Shih Tzu that has been at the shelter since October! He is approximately one and one-half years old and weighs about 8 pounds. He is very friendly and adorable.

Star is a beautiful, young husky. She is only about one year old. Poor girl doesn't look like she has ever been bathed or brushed.

Sweet Amanda is a sweet dog that will make a great pet for a single person or a family. She is approximately one year old and looks like a mix of Lab and Shepherd. She weighs about 25 pounds. Amanda is a little shy but will work out of that quickly once she gets into a home. Amanda comes with a free wellness exam from Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital.

Annie is a beautiful 3 year old, spayed dog that currently lives at the animal shelter in Texarkana. She is very calm and mild-mannered. Annie is house trained and walks great on a leash. Annie was adopted recently but the manager of the apartment complex mistook her for a pitt and said she couldn't stay. Annie is great with kids. Shasta is a very sweet, young mixed breed dog looking for a home today. She fits into the medium size category and probably weighs about 40 pounds. She is pretty good on a leash. Shasta has been at the shelter for a while. She is always the first one to greet you out of the other dogs in her kennel. Call the shelter to adopt her 870-773-6388. Her adoption fee is $40 plus the spay fee.
