Arrr, mate. I may not be able to talk like a pirate but I bounced around on this attraction at the Four States Fair like I was walking off the plank of a ship and caught the entire mess on video.

Some rides, even though they have signs that read "Adults are welcome with Child," should not be ridden by adults.

I added this to my stories about the rides at the Four States Fair because I think it is important information for Fairgoers and parents to know.

I spoke with the inspector who has been in charge of making sure our rides in Texarkana are safe for the past many years. A lot of work goes into putting these rides together and the inspection of every cable, bolt, seat belt and all other pieces and parts, big or small, on each ride. The inspector spends 40-plus hours at our Fair doing the inspection before the Midway opens. He also pops in every day during the Fair to make sure all is well.

Our Midway in Texarkana has something extra that many other fairs do not. Wright's Amusements Carnival includes a special combo feature on each ride so the ride will not start without all features being in place which creates extra safety to prevent accidents. Two switches have to be used at the same time for the ride to start and, if any belts or latches are not secured, the ride will not start. It is a fail-safe feature to make sure patrons have a good time without worrying about their kids on the rides.
