Four States Fair & Rodeo – Traffic Routes In & Out of Fairgrounds in Texarkana
The 77th Annual Four States Fair and Rodeo is here. As exciting as the fair is and all the events the traffic is not something we look forward to. Luckily, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department released information about traffic, traffic routes and security measures and policies that will be in effect for the fair this year.
Non-Fair Traffic Expect Delays in These Areas
If you are not going to the fairgrounds then is it recommended to avoid Four States Parkway Drive if at all possible during peak fair hours. Allow time for heavy traffic and delays at the intersection of Arkansas Boulevard/Four States Fair Parkway Drive and Interstate I30/Four States Fair Parkway Drive.
Vehicles Entering the Fairgrounds And Parking Area:
If you are arriving from the North: Traffic will be pushed down to U of A Way it will then split into two lanes. It will stay that way unless an alternate route is needed at East 46th Street.
If you are coming from the South: E 50th will go into the main parking lot of the fair. If it starts interfering with traffic then East 50th will then become exit traffic only.
Vehicles Exiting Fairgrounds and Parking Areas:
The main parking lot will exit on E 50th until a time designated as above for exit only traffic. Then U of A Way will be turned into an exit only with two lanes out. East 46th Street might be used as an exit for traffic at the end of the night if need be. East 46th Street will be mainly for vendors and anyone working the fair.
Traffic Routes in & out of Fairgrounds in Texarkana
Another option for an exit, if traffic backs up too much, is East 50th Street from the main parking lot to Sammy Lane and back west on U of A Way
Please be patient and remember these entry and exit routes are subject to change.
Once the main gate is closed, the entry traffic will be stopped for approximately 30 minutes then it will reopen for pick-up traffic only.
Simple Steps to Take to Deter Theft
The Texarkana Arkansas Police remind you of some simple steps to help deter theft:
Do not leave purses or bags inside your parked vehicle.
Remember to lock your vehicle and if you need to put your valuables in the trunk BEFORE you come to the Fairgrounds.
Remember to arrive early. The main parking lot in front of the Rodeo Arena will be patrolled and is well lit.
Remember Zero-Tolerance For Trouble Makers
Police Officers will have a zero-tolerance for anyone intending to cause trouble inside and outside the fairgrounds. The city curfew ordinance will be in effect during the Fair for children under the age of 18. The city curfew begins at 11pm Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
Children under the age of 18 must be in the immediate company of a parent or guardian while on the Fairgrounds property. Any juvenile that is not accompanied with an adult after curfew could get a ticket for curfew violation.
The TAPD also stated that:
Youth 15 years of age and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
No sagging pants are allowed inside the Fairgrounds. Persons with sagging pants will not be allowed inside or will be escorted off the premises.
No large groups of unsupervised teens will be allowed to run rampant or widespread. These groups, when unsupervised, tend to develop unruly behavior and cause panic among other fair goers.
No weapons are allowed, and violators will be arrested.
