Henry is our featured pet of the week from the animal shelter. He is around 3 years old and appears to be a shepherd mix. He acts like he is house trained, which means he is miserable having to stay on a kennel at the shelter and not get out to do his business.

New dogs are taken to the shelter every day. From owners surrendering their dogs to strays being dropped off by citizens or picked up by animal control officers. Here are some of the newest arrivals to the shelter from Monday, June 13, 2016.

Malta is a dutch shepherd mix spayed female. She is a fun-loving, water dog. The videos below show this is a super fun dog. She plays Frisbee and loves to jump in the pool. She is approximately 1 year old. Adopt her today for just $40.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana, Arkansas is the only shelter we have in town and the place that all of the strays go that are picked up by animal control officers or taken by citizens.

So often I feature the dogs at the animal shelter but there are also so many cats and kittens available for adoption. They have a cat room that is full of wonderful cats and kittens that you can watch play in their cat enclosure. We are still in the middle of kitten season and there are tons of babies still being born. Check out these adorable kittens.

Megan's vetting has been sponsored so her adoption fee will only be $40. Megan is good with other dogs, too. She loves to sniff around and check out the perimeter. She is a mix, possibly, shepherd. She is approximately 40 pounds and has been at the shelter since December of 2015.

This black lab boy was picked up as a stray in Texarkana. He is super sweet. He was covered in ticks and has a sore back left leg. He let me pull ears and paws with no issues. He is super sweet and not very old, I'm guessing around 3.

I have some good news and a little sad news too. Not every story gets a happy ending so when we get those, we should relish in the moment. Below I have updates on how you were able to help get strays dogs either adopted or reclaimed by their owners because so many folks shared the videos last week. There are also new videos showing dogs that have recently arrived to the shelter.

Mikey is a 6-year-old beagle basset hound mix that was an owner surrender and now lives at the Animal Care and Adoption Center while he waits for someone to adopt him. He has a wonderfully fun personality.
