Do you wish there was a magical pill that you could take to help you lose weight without changing anything else in your life? I do! Remember how all you needed to drop down to your less than ideal skinny figure was a bad break up? Those days become fewer and fewer as you get older and as relationships get better.

I recently tried a new weight loss pill. It was supposed to help with some other health issues I was experiencing and the pounds dropping off was a side effect. Two days into it I did not like the way it made me feel and I thought to myself, "You have the ability to do this the right way, the healthy way," so I now have a worthless bottle of $70 medication but a rediscovered will to make it happen for myself.

You may have experienced the same feelings of tiredness, fatigue and no energy to do the things you like so the pounds start packing on because you turn to food or drink to numb your thoughts. And of course, those things make you feel worse. It is a vicious cycle. Too many daily tasks or commitments get in the way of taking care of myself, or at least I put them ahead of my health because it is easier to focus on something else.

We ladies have a tendency to do that, put everything else ahead of our own needs and the main thing that suffers is often our health. It's time to balance that scale. In the middle of the hottest part of the year I'm ready to get back up on that horse and start feeling like myself again.

Today, I start by cleansing my body of the toxins and opening those previously ordered DVDs to exercise in the coolness of my own home. They are dance workouts so maybe I will learn some new moves, too! Eat better, get moving and take the right supplements. It's no secret, yet we continue to look for something else, something easier, when it turns out that doing those three things are the key to looking better, which makes me feel better about everything.

I may not make it in time to look stunning in a bathing suit this summer but that's okay. At least I won't have to try and squeeze into my jeans when fall gets here. The jeans should slide on easily. Oh, and there is that Little Bo Peep Halloween costume that I've had in the back of my closet for a few years. Maybe I can fit into it in time for trick or treating this year.
