Free School Supplies, Immunizations, Haircuts & Tax-Free Weekend Aug. 11

It's about that time Texarkana... Time to get the kiddos ready to go back to school. Back-to-school means school clothes shopping,immunizations, hair cuts, schools supplies, and so much more. Fortunately, there are a series of events going on the weekend of August 11 to meet most, if not, all your "Back-to-school needs".

Below is a list of FREE and/or discounted opportunities for you to handle it ALL in one weekend.

1. Tax-free Weekend In Texas - Tax-free weekend in Texas is set for August 9-11. Get in on some really great deals and best of all, pay NO taxes on your purchases. (FYI: Tax-free weekend in Arkansas is set for Aug. 3 & Aug. 4)

2. "Wild About Wellness" -   In an effort to ensure our children are healthy and ready to go back to school, we are offering a FREE children's health fair offering free screenings, immunizations, fun activities, including Astro Jump Inflatables and Tommy Toys Pony Paints, contests and entertainment plus lots of educational information geared toward the health and interests of area children and their families. The event promises lots of booths and programs set up to help keep the community abreast of current health issues, resources available and companies with products and services for children. It will take place Saturday, August 10, 9 AM - Noon at Four States Fairground Entertainment Center located at 3700 E. 50th St. Texarkana, Arkansas.

3. DJ Hollygrove On Da Track's "Back-to-School Blow Out" - Community activist and DJ, Chris Daly (DJ Hollygrove), in conjunction with Drumbeat entertainment, will host and sponsor a community-wide "Back-to-school Blow Out"  to help ease the financial blow for parents during this time of year. He will provide free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, food and so much more. It will kick off at 3 PM at Mount Grove Baptist Church located at 2801 Arkansas Blvd. Texarkana, Arkansas. For more information and/or to donate, contact Chris Daly at 903-244-1762.
