The state of Texas is hosting their Tax-Free Weekend  August 7ht- 9th just in time for back to school.

With the start of the upcoming school year just a couple of weeks away for the Texas side, the tax-free weekend in Texas sales tax holiday is from Friday, August 7th, and ends Sunday, August 9th. If you child is going to school or participating online school supplies are a necessity and this is a chance to get all of them with a small discount.

During the tax-free shopping weekend, state and local sales taxes will not be collected which means you could save up to $10 for every $100 you spend. Here are the items that are tax-free this weekend:

    • Clothing and footwear if the sales price is less than $100 per item
    • Clothing and accessories for items less than $50 each
    • School supplies
    • School art supplies
    • School instructional materials

A special note from the comptroller of Texas that encourages online shopping to help promote social distancing during this COVID-19 pandemic. All purchases must be paid for during the tax-free weekend to receive the tax break.

School starts for the Texarkana, Texas, August 18th. Texarkana, Arkansas side starts August 26.
