The "Starz Youth Talent Show" is Monday, September 14, at the Four States Fair and Rodeo. If you know anyone between the ages of 8 and 20 who has a talent, tell him or her to sign up today.

The purpose of the "Starz Youth Talent Show" is to discover and develop talent among the youth in the Texarkana area. The contest will be held at the Outdoor Stage during the fair.  Preliminaries are on Monday, September 14, from 6-8PM with the finalists competing on Thursday, September 17. The deadline to submit entry forms is September 11 at 5PM

COMPETITION:

The competition is open to all amateur performers between the ages of 8-20 with no previous professional experiences or earned wages for performing. There will be four age categories: 8-11, 12-14, 15-17, and 18-20. On Monday, September 14, all qualified contestants will perform on the Outdoor Stage in front of the judges and the audience.  Performers can compete only once. The top winners in each age category will be invited to compete in the Talent Show finals on Thursday, September 17 on the Outdoor Stage.

First place winners at the finals in each age category will win a three song demo CD and cover design from Smart Studios. Prizes will be awarded to second and third place winners in each age category.

ENTRIES:

Entry deadline is Friday, September 11, at 5PM. Each registered contestant will receive four gate admissions to the Fair for September 14 and as well as Thursday, September 17, if they qualify for the finals. Entry Forms can be downloaded online or picked up at the Townsquare Media studios at 2324 Arkansas Blvd, Texarkana, Ark., 71854.

 

CONTEST FORMAT:

Each contestant will have a time limit of 3 minutes for their performance and 2 minutes for set-up time and sound check. Time will not be charged to your performance if the technicians request extra time. Townsquare Media and the Four States Fairgrounds will provide a complete sound system with technicians. Contestants are required to bring their own cassette, CD, instrument or props.

JUDGING:

Each performance will be judged on stage presence, artistic performance, audience response and musical/talent content. Lyrics and presentation must be acceptable in a family environment.
