Enjoy beans and cornbread for lunch on Thursday, Dec. 1. It is time for the annual Bramlett Beans and Cornbread Community Fundraiser hosted by former Mayor James Bramlett and the Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department.

The event will be held from 11AM to 1PM at the Southwest Community Center. Lunch includes beans and cornbread, sodas, coffee and dessert sponsored by Starbucks. A good lunch and a great cause for just $5 per person or six non-perishable food items.

This year the Empty Bowls project will be held in conjunction with the beans and cornbread lunch. Empty Bowls raises money and awareness in the fight to end hunger.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Christmas Basket program, which is a volunteer effort by the Cities of Texarkana, Texas and Texarkana, Arkansas and Texarkana Water Utilities which provides holiday food for need families in the area.
Along with the meal, students from Texas High will display handmade pottery as part of the Empty Bowls project. These bowls will go to the highest bidder in a silent auction during the lunch and the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Christmas Baskets project.
