Smartphones have changed so much about how we live our lives and conduct our business. And, according to futurists, among the many other things the smartphone will change in the near future will be airport check-ins.

Instead of having to stand in line, waiting for a ticket agent, smartphones will take care of it all, making airport check-in the exception instead of the rule within 10 years.

Airlines are currently developing "intelligent" tickets that update people on delays and "intelligent" tags that track luggage around the world.

The futurists who took a look at the travel industry also said they expect everyone to have either chips implanted in the arm or facial recognition technology that will allow people to get on planes without ever checking in.
