Justin Bieber's career is hot, but it's not burning "brighter than the sun."  His new single "Boyfriend" was unable to dislodge .fun's "We Are Young" from the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

Still, Justin doesn't have too much to complain about. "Boyfriend" debuted at #2 with what Billboard says is the second-highest digital sales ever for a single in its debut week.  The track sold a whopping 521,000 downloads its first week out, according to Nielsen Soundscan.  Only one other song has ever had a better week: Flo Rida's "Right Round," which sold 636,000 downloads its first week back in 2009.

In addition, "Boyfriend's" sales rank it the fourth-best week for any song, old or new.  The only songs that have sold more in any given week, according to Soundscan, are the aforementioned "Right Round," plus Ke$ha's "Tik Tok," which sold 610,000 one week in 2010, and Bruno Mars' "Grenade," which sold 559,000 copies during one week in 2011.

This is also Justin's highest-ever charting single on the Hot 100.  His previous high was #5, with "Baby."  His only other top-10 single was 2011's "Never Say Never."
