Drake Scores Huge #1 Debut, but Justin Timberlake Will Replace Him Next Week

Drake's new album Nothing Was the Same has debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart with a whopping 658 million copies sold, making it the second-biggest debut of the year, behind Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience.  But Drizzy shouldn't get too comfortable, since he'll likely lose the top spot next week to Justin Timberlake.

Industry experts tell Billboard that Justin's new album The 20/20 Experience  2 of 2, will debut at #1 next week, giving JT two number-one albums in a single year.  The first installment of The 20/20 Experience sold 968,000 copies when it came out back in March, but this new one is expected to arrive with sales closer to 325,000, experts predict.

By the way, if you're wondering why Justin's new album came out on Monday, rather than the more traditional Tuesday, speculation is that it's because September 30 is the cutoff date for eligibility for the upcoming Grammy Awards.  That means that in December, when Grammy nods are announced, JT could conceivably receive nominations for both parts of The 20/20 Experience.

Meanwhile, Drake has set an interesting record with his new album. As you probably know, he's Canadian. reports show that only one other Canadian artist in history has ever sold more copies of an album in a single week than Drake did this week, and that's Shania Twain.  Back in 2002, her album Up! sold an impressive 874,000 copies in one week.
