Voters went to the polls yesterday in both Arkansas and Texas and decided both statewide and local political races.

In Texas, it was Primary Run-Off Election day. This was concerning races that were decided back during the regular primary in March.

The race for the Democratic nomination for Governor went to Lupe Valdez who beat Andrew White. Valdez will challenge Republican incumbent Greg Abbott in November.

Locally in Bowie County, Todd Fore defeated Mike Lusk, in the Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Place 2 race.

In Arkansas it was Primary Election Day. Governor Asa Hutchinson easily defeated challenger Jan Morgan, while on the Democratic side, Jared Henderson came out ahead and he will face the Governor in November.

Meanwhile in Miller County, Cathy Hardin Harrison was the winner over Roy John McNatt in the race for Judge.

Also incumbent Sheriff Jackie Runion defeated former Sheriff Ron Stovall.

The General Election will be held this year on Tuesday November 6.
