Texas Department of Transportation will be closing FM 1397 (Summerhill Road) this week to replace a culvert crossing underneath the highway.

The closure will be north of I-30 just south of Forrest Brooke Lane. Work will begin Monday, May 24, and last about a week. Drivers will need to find alternate routes.

 Road repairs continue in Bowie County in the following locations.

  •  I-30 – From FM 989 to Arkansas State Line, widening highway. Reconstructing and widening highway. Eastbound traffic moved to the outside lanes.
  • SH 8 – At Sulphur River, replacing bridges.
  • SH 93 – Between Kennedy Lane and Meadow Lane, installing sidewalks.
  • SH 98 – At Anderson Creek, replacing the bridge. All traffic restricted to one lane with signal lights controlling traffic through the work zone.

Drivers should slow down in the work zones, look for road crews, and obey all laws. Drivers should expect traffic delays in the warned areas.
