These puppies are lucky enough to already have homes waiting for them on the East Coast. Their beginning wasn't so promising as they were just hours away from put to sleep when I pulled them out of a Texas animal shelter.

Overcrowding in shelters is often the downfall of many dogs in our region. It is very sad. But this particular litter had a happy outcome rather than a doomed ending. The mother of the litter, Elsa, was not a friendly dog. She was very protective of her babies which made it difficult to do anything with the puppies. They were only about a week and a half old when the owner dropped Elsa and her puppies off at the shelter.

Thankfully I was able to connect with a group on the East Coast that arranges for adoptions by screening applicants and doing home visits to guarantee good homes.

All seven puppies are heading to new homes! A transport company comes through Texarkana on their route from Arkansas to Connecticut. There are several different transport groups that I have used but this one makes it very convenient because they come right through Texarkana which means I don't have to drive to Little Rock.
