Accidental Shooting Leaves Texarkana Teen Wounded Tuesday Morning

One young man is in custody on firearms charges at this point in connection with the shooting and wounding of a 16-year-old female at a Texas-side apartment complex Tuesday morning.

Details are still coming in but it appears to be an accidental shooting that took place Tuesday morning at the Town North Apartments on Elizabeth Street in Texarkana, Texas.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department has arrested Thomas Jones Jr., 18, on a weapons charge in connection with an accidental shooting Tuesday morning.

Jones, is currently in custody and faces charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm.

The incident happened Tuesday morning around 9 AM, according to police when they arrived on the scene they found a teenage female suffering from a gunshot wound in her abdomen. The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries. No word as of yet on the teen's condition.
