The City of Texarkana, Texas is happy to report that the Texarkana Farmers Market has been awarded funds through the USDA Farmers Market Grant. A total of  $118,800.00 will be received over the next three years 

This money comes from the United States Department of Agriculture as they were able to make available $90.2 Million for farmers' markets.

Vashil Fernandez, the Interim Director of Planning and Community
Development stated in a press release;

“We are excited for this opportunity to continue to grow the Texarkana Farmers
Market.”

What Will The Grant Money Be Used For?

The city plans on using the grant money for marketing, an outreach program and to help with more health and safety issues. They also plan to have 'pop up' farmers markets in lower-income neighborhoods in Texarkana Texas.

They also want to continue and grow the drive-thru TXK Boxes where customers are able to purchase fresh produce easily and safely during these covid times.

the grant will focus on purchasing audiovisual equipment, and video editing software that will be used to produce content related to accessing local food and cooking presentations to promote local farmers and food services.
