Texarkana Man Charged with Animal Cruelty
A Texarkana, Texas man has been charged with Animal Cruelty in connection with the alleged abuse of a kitten.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested 64 year old Michael Bryant on charges of Animal Cruelty on Saturday.
Officers were dispatched to the report of a disturbance in the 2100 block of Texas Blvd. A witness told officers that she allegedly observed Bryant picking up a small kitten and throwing it “like a baseball for twenty or more feet”. She also alleges that he then struck the kitten several times and threw various items at the kitten.
Officers located the kitten laying on its back under a nearby vehicle. It was bleeding from a cut on its face and was lethargic when they found it. Animal Control was contacted and responded to take possession of the kitten, which was treated at a local veterinary clinic. The kitten is expected to make a full recovery.
Bryant, who was sitting beside the building, was arrested for Animal Cruelty and transported to the Bi-State Jail, where he remains in custody with a bond of $25,000.
