The Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller County presents its 'Spelling Bee' at the Truman Arnold Center in Texarkana College Saturday from 6 until 9 PM.

This event benefits the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties. The Corporate Spelling Bee combines community philanthropy with corporate team building.

This year things will be a little different. The spelling bee will be held online to make people feel safe with the concerns of COVID-19.  In the spelling bee, there will be three-member teams with one alternate. The teams are allowed to collaborate with each other. The spelling teams will compete against each other in rounds that get progressively more difficult. There will be a panel of three independent judges

Teams have some lifelines that they can use. 'Buzz A Friend' lets the team call someone if they run across a word that stumps the team. 'Plan Bee' will let the team request a new word during the competition. If only one team remains standing, and that team will have the bragging rights as the winner of this great annual event. The teams are also selling virtual tickets to help support the event. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased here.

You can support teams from Cooper Tire, The Texarkana Gazette, Leadership Texarkana, and Friends for a cause are just some of the great teams rasing money for the cause.
