Is it illegal to drive your car in Arkansas with a cracked windshield?

Well, I have some unfortunate experiences with broken windshields. I have owned a Jeep for the last 10 years and it is on its third windshield. Anyone who owns one knows that they are a magnet when it comes to getting rock chips and even worse the dreaded crack that runs the length of this really small windshield.

My little daily driver is already on the second windshield after only owning it for two years. Heck, even the Power 95-9 car has a big ole crack in the windshield.

Is it illegal to drive with a cracked windshield in Arkansas? So here is the scoop from Cracked Windshield Laws:

Arkansas laws do not mention windshield cracks, but drivers are not permitted to operate vehicles with obstructed view of the road. No stickers or other objects may be attached to car windshields which prevent clear view of the road.

So the answer is no, but there were a couple of things I did find on the site you need to be aware of. No sticker, sign, or other non-transparent material is allowed above 4 and 1/2 inches from the bottom of the windshield. You also need to have fully functioning windshield wipers, and replacement windshields must be of the same kind and quality as the original windshield. So no cheesy repairs like duct tape are allowed.

But what about Texas? Here is what Cracked Windshield Laws had to say about Texas:

Texas laws do not mention windshield cracks, but drivers are not permitted to operate vehicles with obstructed view of the road. No stickers or other objects may be attached to car windshields which prevent clear view of the road. By TX laws any crack which causes the glass to change shape or become concave or convex is not permitted.
