Chips and salsa are a great start to a Mexican food lunch or dinner. The salsa won’t make or break the meal but it sure makes a big difference in deciding where to go for a meal. Where do you think the best salsa is in Texarkana?

Here are my favorites for the best salsa in Texarkana, not necessarily in order of first to last. If you have a favorite spot to get salsa in Texarkana let us know where it is.

    On the Border Grill

4300 Saint Michael Dr., Texarkana, Texas

My mouth starts watering when I think about their salsa. It has good chunks of onions, peppers and tomatoes mixed in a great sauce with the perfect bite of heat.

    Chili’s Grill & Bar

    3415 Mall Dr, Texarkana, Texas

The salsa is very tasty and one bowl is never enough. Their salsa is different than everyone else's, which is interesting because the ingredient list is very simple.

    Zapata Grill

    217 Walnut St., Texarkana, Ark.

I usually go through a couple of bowls of salsa before the meal arrives. I have learned to wait for a beverage to arrive before I dig in. It has the right amount of heat but without a drink to wash it down, it can get a little uncomfortable.

    El Chico

    420 Realtor Ave, Texarkana, Ark.

I had several cups of their salsa the last time I was at El Chico. It was so yummy. They left a refill pitcher on the table which was good because I kept stealing everyone's salsa cups.

    Tamolly’s

    3801 E 9th St, Texarkana, Ark.

Even though it leaves a horrible after taste for almost an entire day, I love this salsa. There have been times that it seemed a bit too hot. I don't know if my taste buds have changed or they have toned it down but I can eat this salsa like it is going out of style. A few weeks ago I ordered something to eat just so I could get the salsa and chips with the meal.
