The 'Divots for Disabilities Golf Tournament' is scheduled for May 1 at Texarkana Country Club.

Easter Seals East Texas, Temple Memorial Rehabilitation Center, has been addressing the therapeutic needs of area children and adults since 1952. They offer physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy through traditional therapeutic sessions as well as hippotherapy and aquatic therapy.

Over the years, they have seen an increase in the therapeutic needs of the children in our service area. Many parents do not know where to turn when faced with these new challenges. Thankfully, their doors are open to these families today, just as they were during the polio epidemic of the 1950s.

Due to the increase in community need, it is essential that Temple Memorial have fundraisers throughout the year to offset costs and keep its doors open to those who depend on them. Its next fundraising event is Temple Memorial Rehabilitation Center’s E-Z Mart "Divots for Disabilities Golf Tournament," which is scheduled for May 1 at Texarkana Country Club. Registration starts at 11 a.m. with the shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Each participant will receive lunch, a gift certificate to the pro shop, and complimentary beverages on the course with awards on the terrace after play. There are player spots and sponsorship opportunities still available for this year’s event.

Individual players are $175 each or $700 for a team. Paid players also receive a ticket to the pre-party, which takes place the night before tournament play begins.

This year’s tournament pre-party is scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 30 at the Texarkana Country Club Ballroom. Festivities will include refreshments and a fish fry, silent and live auctions, great live music and dancing  Tickets for the pre-party are $50 each.

All of your contributions are tax-deductible and your support will allow Temple Memorial to continue to meet the needs of children with disabilities in the Texarkana area. If you have any questions or to request a team sign-up sheet or pre-party tickets please call Sandy Varner at 903-794-2705. More details can be found here.
