Ok, this is just between me and you... I'm a little sad today, why? Because my wife and I, and a couple of friends went to our favorite Chinese restaurant in Texarkana, one... last... time.

I know a lot of you are experiencing the same loss this week as we all learned Monday that China Inn is closing after 30-plus years in operation. I think we have all been eating there just about that whole time.

My wife Donna reminded me yesterday that our first real date was at China Inn, oh, those many years ago. I can't tell you how many friends and family members we have eaten there with over the years, but, it's just about all of them.

Nobody does that Special Fried Rice like they do, Cashew Nut Chicken has always been one of my favorites, and most recently I have taken a real liking to Princess Prawns. Their fried wontons, egg rolls, and crab rangoons are the best.

Donna and I met my radio partner Lisa and my buddy Wes up there for one last delicious meal before it's over for good.

Maria has been serving tables there forever, and she has taken great care of us over the years. Maria's smile and laugh will surely be missed by many in T-town. Cindy is a more recent addition but she has been terrific as well.

As inflation crunches all of our budgets we are more careful where we spend our dining-out dollars these days, but China Inn was one of the few places we went to almost every week.

Last I heard Maria is planning on just retiring, we don't know where Cindy and the other staff will end up, but wherever it is, they will be picking up some good employees, but more importantly, some good people.

If you're trying to get in there this week, good luck, they backed up into the road busy.

Bye China Inn, you will be greatly missed.
