Best Places to Picnic in Texarkana

The weather is getting nicer and the draw to get outside is strong. Finding time to enjoy this beautiful spring-like weather is tough with our busy schedules so why not take your lunch outside?

So where are the best places to have a picnic in Texarkana?

Spring Lake Park is the first place that comes to mind when I think of having a picnic in a park. They have a dog park, disc golf course, fishing, pavilions, playground, restrooms, trails and more. The park is pretty large.

Bobby Ferguson Park - Picnic and watch the ducks in the pond. Playgrounds are fun no matter what age you are.  I've jogged the trails at this park with my dog and it was fun as well as challenging.

Texas Information Center - With 24-hour surveillance, public restrooms and free wireless Internet access, this location turns a picnic into a cyber lunch because when it comes down to it. And we really want to be on our electronic devices even when we picnic.

Downtown Pocket Park - Located in the 200 block of East Broad Street in downtown Texarkana, this is a cool place to enjoy the sights and sounds of our downtown atmosphere and sometimes there are musicians that are strumming out tunes on a guitar.

Bringle Lake Park - Since they have finished the walking paths and park area, this location is a prime spot for the entire family to get some outdoor time. Walk the trails, do a little fishing, and the kids can play on the swings and start an impromptu volleyball game.

Wright Patman Lake - They have several areas to enjoy lunch on the picnic tables near the dam or go into one of the beach areas and use their grills to cook up some hamburgers and hot dogs.

Ed Worrell Park - The bike trail goes right through this park located on 35th Street in Texarkana, Ark. It is a great place to catch a quick nap after dining on one of the picnic tables for lunch.

Jefferson Park - Plenty of picnic tables, play areas for the kids and the Arkansas-side dog park is there so there is something for everyone in the family. You'll find this park at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and 12th Street.
