Provide a Pet a Pad for Tinker Before it is Too Late

Tinker is a sweet little dog that has been at the animal shelter for a very long time and he is running the risk of being put to sleep. Please share his information to help him find a home before it is too late.

Brenda Williamson is a volunteer at the animal shelter and this is what she had to say about Tinker:

HE IS MY FAV AT THE SHELTER! HE HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY ❤!
This is tinker and he's been at the shelter for close to a year. He grew up on the streets and was completely terrified of people. He's still very shy but I've been working with him and he doesn't run from me anymore. He lets me pet him and he absolutely loves the treats more than any other dog. He LOVES other dogs and loves to play. He's maybe a year old. He needs a compassionate owner with at least another furbaby to give him confidence. His whole demeanor changes when he's with another dog. He sees other dogs like people and that makes him braver. Anyone willing to give this sweet gorgeous baby a chance. He's sponsored so would only be the 40 dollar adoption fee. He's a chiweenie 😃❤ or a min pin/weenie!

This is how Tinker looked when he was first at the shelter and the information on this sheet describes his disposition a year ago. As you can see from Brenda's description above, Tinker's attitude has changed considerably.

Tinker's vetting fees will be paid by his sponsor so that means to adopt him you will only pay a $40 adoption fee.

If you are interested in adopting, fostering or sponsoring a dog, please contact Bertha at the animal shelter by calling 870-773-6388, option 3. If you sponsor a dog that means that you will pay the fee to have the dog fixed and get a rabies vaccination. Once that is done, the adoption fee will only be $40, which makes it much easier to get a dog adopted from the shelter.The Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana, Ark., is our only animal shelter in town. They have a few hundred dogs and cats that need to be reclaimed or adopted. Room is always an issue at a city animal shelter. We feature an animal each week to help get the word out about many of these great pets.

It is so unfortunate that there are so many dogs and cats euthanized every week in our local shelter. It is up to the community to prevent it. Spay and neuter your pets. The shelter's adoption fees range from $40 to $144, depending on the gender and size of the animal or whether they have been spayed or neutered yet. You can also have your pet microchipped for only $20 right at the shelter. That way if your pet is ever lost, he or she can be returned to you quickly.
