Cowboy is a Heeler mix that is approximately 3 years old. He has a docked tail and looks like he could have a little Rotty mixed in too. He was more interested in the kids than he was the ball that I kept throwing for him so I asked the kids to be in the photos too.

Cowboy will need to be neutered when he is adopted which should cost around $120--that includes the shelter's adoption fee. You also get a FREE Wellness Package from Pleasant Grove Animal Hospital.

With this Wellness Package you will be able to gain a lot of information about Heelers. PGAH can answer all of your questions on care and which products will be best for Cowboy. They will give Cowboy a thorough exam too.

Cowboy looks like he would be a great companion dog for your kids, possibly even a great protector for them as they play in the yard.

If Cowboy isn't the dog for you there are plenty of other animals at the shelter to chose from. The adoption fees vary from $40 to $144, depending on the size, gender, animal and whether or not they were spayed or neutered when they came into the shelter. Something else that you should consider is micro-chipping your pet. It is only $20 through the shelter and gives you peace of mind to know if your dog or cat get picked up by the shelter or taken to a vet, they will be returned to you quickly.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center located at 203 Harrison, Texarkana, Arkansas. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
