Pet of the Week — Cookie Dough, Neutered Pit Mix

Cookie Dough is our Pet of the Week. He is a pit bull mix, neutered and probably around two years old. He loves to be pet and play. He runs around like a puppy. He pressed his side against the kennel gate just begging for attention. Since he is already neutered, his adoption fee is only $40 from the Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana, Ark. on Harrison Street.

Cookie Dough needs leash work and will pull an unstable person down. He loves water and would probably do great with a doggie pool in the backyard. He can entertain himself for long periods of time with dog toys.

It is so unfortunate that there are so many dogs and cats euthanized every week in our local shelter. It is up to the community to prevent it. Spay and neuter your pets. The shelter's adoption fees range from $40 to $144, depending on the gender and size of the animal or whether they have been spayed or neutered yet. You can also have your pet microchipped for only $20 right at the shelter. That way if your pet is ever lost, he or she can be returned to you quickly.
