Even though everyday has 24 hours in it. The Longest Day of The Year is happening this Saturday.Of course, we are talking about the longest day of the year as far as daylight is concerned. The official start of Summer, known as the Summer Solstice is happening Saturday June 21.

This is the day where the sun reaches its most northern point in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. From sunrise to sunset, it will be the longest daylight we will see.

Really for the next ten days or so, we will see days about the same length before sunset begins to slowly head back earlier and sunrise slowly heads back later.

The hottest days of summer lie ahead in July to mid August. However for us who love fall, the shaving off of daylight hours that begins later next month is a sure sign that autumn will return.
