On Monday, concertgoers who attended Drake's show at the Barclays Center were treated to a preview of the rapper's unreleased track "Trophies." Drizzy is now explaining why the Hit-Boy-produced cut didn’t appear on his latest album, Nothing Was the Same.

"I wouldn't even call it a leftover, it was definitely on the album," Drake tells Revolt TV.  "I know Hit-Boy is going to watch this interview and be like, 'Pssshh.' I'm not a just-throw-it-together kind of guy, and I had two different hooks on there, I didn't like any of them, I started sending them around and as great of a job as other people did, it didn't sound right if I wasn't on the hook."

He adds that he prefers "to do my own hooks for the sake of my performances. I don't like being off a hook because then I can't do 'Language,' 'Worst Behavior' I can't really give you a moment if someone else is doing the hook."

Fortunately, though, for fans who are wondering if Drizzy will ever complete the track, he confirms, "I'm going to drop 'Trophies' though. I'm going to finish it up and drop 'Trophies.' I got a lot of records that aren't out yet."
