I've got the perfect recipe for some summer brisket and yes, I'm going to share it with you. Prepare yourself for deliciousness.

Basically the ingredients you will need are:

  • 1 cup of Imperial Sugar Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup Dr. Pepper Cherry Cola Soda
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 fresh beef brisket (4 - 5 pounds)

Now, if you do everything I tell you to do next then you will have the most mouth-watering beef brisket ever.

First make sure to preheat your oven to 325° F. Once you've done that, trim the fat off the brisket and place the brisket in a large roasting pan. Combine the brown sugar, Dr. Pepper, ketchup, onion, salt and pepper into a bowl and mix it up until it is perfectly blended. Pour the mixture over the meat and cover it tightly with foil.

Now for the hard part. Sit and wait for three hours while you roast the brisket and occasionally add a little sauce mixture as you go. Spoiler alert: it's going to smell fantastic.

After the three hours are up or the meat is tender, remove the brisket to a platter and keep it warm. Put the remaining sauce into a saucepan then bring to a boil. Once you've done that, reduce the head and simmer the sauce for about 15 minutes or until the sauce thickens.

Viola! You are practically done now! Just slice up the brisket in diagonal slices across the grain at an angle and serve it up with some sauce!

This summer brisket will be perfect thanks to some Dr. Pepper and you still have time to enter to win our Dr. Pepper Grill contest! Make sure you enter here! The contest will run through the month of July and the winner will be announced August 1.

Oh, and one last thing. I would recommend sides of mashed potatoes and fried okra. But that's just my personal preference and I've been craving okra for a few days.
