The Texas Department of Public Safety is encouraging residents to report suspicious behaviors that might indicate criminal or terrorist activity.The department’s iwatch website is www.iwatchtx.org, and it was created as a partnership between communities and law enforcement. It is a DPS website where citizen sourced information is collected in an effort to help thwart illegal and other devious endeavors.
Concerned citizens can visit the website to fill out a report, which includes contact information adn specifics about a particular incident. The report usually takes less than five minutes to complete.
Here are some examples of behavior and activities to report, according to the DPS.
1. Strangers asking questions about building security features and procedures.
2. Briefcase, suitcase, backpack, or package left behind.
3.Cars or trucks left at no parking zones at important buildings.
4.Chemical smells or fumes that unusual for a particular area.
5.People requesting sensitive information, such as blueprints, security plans, or VIP travel schedules, without a need to know.
6. Purchasing supplies that could be used to make bombs or weapons, or purchasing uniforms without having
the proper credentials.
7. Taking photographs or videos or security features, such as cameras or check points.
