Its National Peanut Butter And Jelly Day, so I thought I would share a few facts with you. The sandwich is wildly  popular in North America. Peanut butter was actually patented in 1903, it was developed by A St. Louis physician, Dr. Ambrose W. Straub. Dr. Straub invented this crushed peanut mixture for his geriatric patients with bad teeth. It was first introduced to the public at the worlds fair in 1880. During the 1920's and 30's commercial brands of Peanut butter 'Skippy' and 'Peter Pan' were introduced. During the 1940's the soldiers added jelly to their peanut butter sandwiches to make them taste better. The scary thing is that by the time you graduate high school you wold have had about 1500 sandwiches.
