The Randy Sams' Shelter is preparing for the annual Thanksgiving community meal. Dinner will be served from 11AM to 1PM on Thanksgiving, November 24. The Shelter is looking for volunteers to help with various aspects of the dinner include serving and food donations.

The meal includes turkey, ham and dressing. The Shelter is expecting approximately 300 people will attend.

Volunteers can help with various aspects of the dinner like serving and/or cleaning up, or by bringing food (cooked or uncooked) anytime until 10AM the morning of Thanksgiving. Food needed includes turkeys, hams, side dishes, fruit cocktail, chicken broth, cornbread mix, sweet potatoes, poultry seasoning, cranberry sauce rolls and desserts. Other items that are used include trash bags, paper plates, plastic utensils and cups.

The Randy Sams' Outreach Shelter is located at 402 Oak Street in Texarkana, Texas and is an emergency shelter for adult men and women. It is a completely free, 93-bed facility in an 85-mile-radius. The Shelter is currently undergoing a renovation and expansion to double the size of the women's area and install central air. According to the Shelter's press release, so far in 2016 they have helped more than 150 people move from the Shelter into permanent housing and 15,000 nights of shelter have been provided to 395 people seeking a place to sleep.
