XXXTentacion’s “Sad!” Video to Be Released Tomorrow
With over a thousand people and several artists gathered at Sunrise, Fla.'s BB&T Center for XXXTentacion's open-casket public memorial today (June 27), the slain rapper's Instagram shared a release date for the "Sad!" music video. According to a post on the account, the visuals are due tomorrow (June 28) at 9 a.m. EST.
"SAD! music video tomorrow Thursday 9am EST," reads white text posted on X's Instagram story. The profile is managed by Janseh's mother Cleo Onfroy and his management team, according to the bio.
The video comes days after "Sad!" surged to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 following X's fatal shooting on June 18. The song, from his chart-topping March album ?, broke a Spotify single-day streaming record on its way to becoming the first posthumous No. 1 by a solo lead artist since The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Mo Money Mo Problems" in 1997.
On Saturday (June 23), director and frequent X collaborator JMP shared two photos of the rapper, smiling wide with his arms crossed, taken while shooting the "Sad!" video, which he said the two crafted over the past three months. "This video will capture the minds and hearts of the masses," JMP tweeted.
He continued, "You were truly ahead of your time Jah. I can’t thank you enough for how much I’ve learned about myself just from working with you. We created history together and I will forever be grateful for that opportunity. I know you will be watching over us. I love you forever brother #LLJ."
The announcement follows an eventful day in the investigation into X's suspected murderers, two of which are reportedly dodging arrest warrants.
Dedrick Williams, the alleged driver of the gunmen, pleaded not guilty to his first-degree murder charge in a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. court this morning. Hours later, the Broward County Sheriff's office named 22-year-old Robert Allen as a second person of interest for his role in the fatal shooting. The U.S. Marshals are assisting in a search for Allen and a third unnamed spokesman, an agency spokesman told Page Six.
