Who’s Ready For Stories In The Cemetery?
The Texarkana Museum Systems presents "The Talking Dead" living history cemetery tour this Saturday night.
I have not been on one of these yet but they sure do sound fun. Here's the scenario; You and a loved one walk through a historic cemetery here in Texarkana and learn interesting stories about some of the people buried there from a narrator and actual actors recreating the people behind those stories right in front of your eyes.
Sounds fun doesn't it?
That's exactly what will happen this Saturday night at the Fair Haven Cemetery, corner of Sanderson and East 35th Street in Texarkana, Arkansas starting at 8 PM.
Texarkana Museum Systems Curator Jamie Simmons told me that six actors will be on hand to recreate some of the people buried in this historically black cemetery, including the founder of the Jones-Stuart Mortuary.
The actors work with microphones and everyone is issued a listening receiver to better hear the actors while portraying their roles. These include single-use earbuds or you are welcome to bring your favorite pair of buds, they will work with this system as well. There should be plenty of lighting along the way but if you would like to bring your own flashlight you are welcome to. The tour is wheelchair-friendly as well.
Tickets are $15 and are available in advance at the Texarkana Museum Systems office located at 219 N Stateline Ave. Call 903-793-4831 or email Ahern@TexarkanaMuseums.org.
