I always thought Truth or Dare was scary enough on its own. At parties as a young kid, I would avoid it at all costs, because I was afraid someone would ask me to confess my crushes or (EVEN WORSE) dare me to kiss a girl. (I was very shy.)

But, no. Apparently my psychic scars were nothing. Because now Truth or Dare is getting a gritty horror reboot. Goodbye emotionally scarring game, hello physically scarring one; in the new Blumhouse horror movie Truth or Dare, if you don’t tell the truth or you refuse the dare (dramatic pause) you die.

Watch the trailer above; here’s the official synopsis:

Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) and Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) lead the cast of Blumhouse's Truth or Dare, a supernatural thriller from Blumhouse Productions (Happy Death Day, Get Out, Split). A harmless game of “Truth or Dare” among friends turns deadly when someone-or something-begins to punish those who tell a lie-or refuse the dare. Directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), the thriller co-stars Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto and Sophia Taylor Ali. The film was produced by Blumhouse's Jason Blum and executive produced by Wadlow.

Truth or Dare opens in theaters on April 27. I would dare you to see it, but now I’m too scared to do that. Oh jeez, now I’m flashing back to all those parties where I pretended I really wanted to listen to New Kids on the Block cassettes in order to get out of Truth or Dare. I buried this trauma for so long but now it’s back. Thanks a lot, Truth or Dare.
