TinkerTown 2109 will take place at Discovery Place Interactive Museum and downtown Texarkana along Broad Street on May 11th from 9 am until 3 pm this year.

The event will let you do some make & take activities focused on arts, crafts, stem projects, and good old' fashioned tinkering. The event this year will be free for everyone thanks to some great Sponsorships of community supporters Ledwell Machinery, the Patterson Troike Foundation, Farmers Bank & Trust, Main Street Texarkana, and the many committed Activity Presenters.

You will be able to do many activities including jump rope making, pop rocks, Lego math, blinky bugs, solar oven smores and more. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts alike will also find opportunities to earn badges at some of the locations featured.

The activities aren't just simple spaces where vendors hand out fliers about their products, but children participate in hands-on activities and go home with expanded knowledge, not even realizing they've been learning rather than playing.

Velvet Cool, Board President says

"We'll have activities at Discovery Place where we ask everyone to stop in and get their FREE armband. We'll have 250 tote bags to distribute and we'll get you registered for Door Prizes being given away for prizes such as I-Jump gift cards and movie passes. We'll get you a map to all the activities and then you're off to explore DownTown and tinker around"

RSVP's can be made at TexarkanaMuseums.org/TinkerTown, through FaceBook or on Eventbrite. While not required, these RSVPs help the Museum and Activity Sponsors plan ahead and make sure they have enough supplies for ALL!! Call 903-793-4831 for more information.
