Texarkana Texas Police Arrest Two Accused of Theft of Thousands From Local Elderly Women

The Texarkana Texas Police Department report they have arrested Patricia Richardson and Rhonda Latham and charged them with Exploitation of an Elderly Person late last week.

According to the story on the TTPD Facebook Page, Richardson was working as a part-time caregiver to two elderly women, a mother and daughter, and managed to steal almost $48,000 from their bank account in just three months. Richardson, along with Latham, reportedly made several purchases, transfers, and ATM withdrawals that have left the two elderly women broke and living month to month according to the report.

At the time of this release, Richardson remained in the Bi-State Jail with a $75,000 bond. Latham was released from jail for a time after posting a $50,000 bond, but according to the story that won't last long. Her parole officer issued a parole violation warrant, so she'll be headed back to jail soon enough.

Detective Warren Smith with the TTPD said that the whole situation is incredibly sad, but the scary part is that he's heard that Richardson may have been handling the finances of at least one other elderly person in town.
