The Texarkana Autism Awareness Group will have a fundraiser tonight from 6 until 8 pm at the Richmond Road location of Chicken Express.

This is just one of many fundraisers that the group is going to this year to help in their funding. The group is funding local teachers sensory tools for them to be able to use in their classroom. From weighted animals to specially weighted pressure vests. Every dollar raised goes to the cause. Here is a quick video of some sensory tools and how they can help autistic children.

The organization's goal is to have these tools available for teachers in the Texarkana area. They are also making sure that people are educated about autism and how these tools will greatly benefit these autistic kids in their self-contained classrooms.

In addition to a portion of the sales tonight going to help the cause they also have t-shirts available for you to purchase. I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting these folks at a remote I did earlier this month at RNR Tire Express. Did you know that 1 in 52 people have autism? That number really floored me. April is Autism Awareness month and the Texarkana Autism Awareness group is doing its part.

If you are unable to attend tonight's fundraiser there will be another one next week April 27 the at the Chicken Express on 7th street in Texarkana. If you would like to help the organization they have online ways for you to make your donation. You will find all of the details on the Facebook page.
