Earlier this month, social media was abuzz with speculation after Soulja Boy went on Twitter and Instagram to claim that he inked a $400 million deal. Some immediately assumed that it was a record deal while others doubted it was even factual. It turns out that Soulja Boy's $400 million agreement is real, but it's an endorsement deal with World Poker Fund Holdings.

The company, which bills itself as a leading developer and operator of online and event-based social gaming platforms and brands, released a press release today (May 20) announcing their partnership with Soujla Boy. The release also included an official statement from the rapper.

"I invest in things I understand," Soulja Boy said in a statement. "I enjoy music, and of course gaming. Being an influencer is a form of currency. Having portfolio diversification is critical if you want to be an effective brand ambassador. With regards to World Poker Fund, I believe in its strategy, its team, the vision, and management’s ability to target its financial goals."

World Poker Fund compared their five-year contract with Soulja Boy to endorsement deals such as Ciroc's with Diddy and Vitamin Water''s with 50 Cent. World Poker Fund spokesman Matthew Bird said Soulja Boy is an individual influencer who has already had a positive impact on their brand.

"The world of marketing is changing," Bird said. "Today’s biggest influencers are not brands, but individuals who create content that drive loyalty and brand sentiment. We no longer are fed content from major news networks — we seek it out and consume it by individual influencers that enrich our lifestyles. Soulja Boy represents the best of the best and we are already seeing the impact from his presence."

Soulja Boy has been busy on the business front as he recently signed to FilmOn TV. FilmOn is the same company who signed Chief Keef, suspended him in November 2015 and sued the rapper's associates.
