Severe Weather Possible in Texarkana Today — Dress for Warm and Wet Conditions

We are under an enhanced risk for severe weather today and tonight. An "enhanced risk" rates at three on the scale of one to five. The National Weather Service created a ranking scale to help people understand what the different storm risks are, which is pictured below. The rain and storms will begin for our area sometime around mid-morning and won’t diminish until around midnight. We are also under a watch for flooding.

Large, damaging hail and wind gusts are believed to be the main threat today and this evening but, of course, tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The rain and storms are predicted for most of the day until around midnight. We also are expecting some rain and storm chances again in the morning but not as severe as today.
