The monthly recycling event hosted by the City of Texarkana, Ark., will be Saturday.

Green Texarkana takes place from 8 AM to 1 PM the second Saturday of the month at 2901 Dudley St. Residents must wait to bring their items until volunteers arrive Saturday morning. Bringing items prior to 8 AM and leaving recyclables in the parking lot is considered littering.

This program provides responsible disposal for paper, cardboard, plastic, metal cans and electronics. The city asks that metal cans and plastic items like shopping bags be bagged up and separated for proper processing.

Green Texarkana cannot accept:

  • Glass
  • Styrofoam
  • Tires
  • Furniture
  • Hazardous materials including CFLs (compact fluorescent lights)

Individuals are asked to make sure all bottles and containers are washed before being dropped oof to be recycled.

Last year, Texarkana residents recycled more than 75 tons of waste through Green Texarkana's recycling program The city’s goal is to top that amount this year.
