In response to calls from the community from those wanting to give blood in honor of fallen officers in Baton Rouge, LifeShare Blood Centers Texarkana will be open for additional blood donations this week.

Visit the Texarkana LifeShare Blood Center on College Drive on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8AM to 4PM, Tuesday and Thursday 10AM to 5:30PM, or Saturday 8AM to 1PM. Or you can stop by one of the blood drives scheduled this week in Texarkana on Tuesday, July 19 at the Artex Truck Center from 1:30PM to 5PM or if you live near Hope, Ark. on Wednesday, July 20 at Farmers Bank from 11AM to 2:30PM and later that same day at the Hope Walmart from 4PM to 7PM.

“At the heart of our mission, we are here to provide a service those in need. We are deeply saddened by this great loss and open our doors to those taking positive steps to make our community stronger. While it is the blood given in advance of a tragedy that is used for the victims, these events underscore the importance of a stable blood supply. We welcome donors giving in memory of the fallen officers, and as always those who are giving to for patients in our community,” states Tommie Langlois, spokesperson for LifeShare Blood Centers.

One blood donation, approximately one pint of blood, can save up to three lives. Every donation has the potential to save someone’s life.

After blood donation, testing and processing takes a minimum of 24 hours before the blood is available for patient use. Donations of all blood types are needed for constant replenishing.
