This Saturday May 9th, letter carriers for Texarkana, Ark., and Texarkana, Texas will pick up nonperishable food donations from citizens who would like to donate to local hunger relief organizations. Simply place a bag of food next to your mailbox or inside your mailbox before the mail runs and it will be picked up. This food drive benefits Harvest Texarkana, Domestic Violence Prevention, Randy Sam's Shelter, Salvation Army and The Friendship Center. Will you join us to stamp out hunger this year?

Donate items like canned meats, fish, soup, vegetables; bottled juice, pasta, cereal and rice that do not require refrigeration. Please do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers.

If you do not receive a donation bag, food donation items can still be left at your mailbox before Saturday's pick up time. If it is raining please use plastic bags like the ones you get at the grocery store.

How You Can Help:

1. Place non-perishable food products in a bag

2. Leave at your mailbox on Saturday, May 9th

3. Your letter carrier will pick up and deliver to local food banks or pantries.

"Stamp Out Hunger" day is the largest single day food drive in the nation.

The kickoff celebration to "Stamp Out Hunger" began May 5th at the post office at 2211 Robison Road. Spread the word - this food drive will keep many individuals, men, women and children fed through the spring and summer months. No one wants to be hungry, sometimes there is no choice.
