Miller County Sheriffs Deputies have arrested a local man on charges including arson and theft in connection with several recent criminal acts in the county.

Authorities say they responded just after 7AM this past Saturday, May 12 to an address on Tennessee Road in reference to a burned camper.  Deputies met with the property owner who stated that at 7am, he noted that his 26’ camper had been burned.  The property owner further related that 1 week earlier, he noticed that a .380 caliber pistol and two hunting knives had been stolen from his residence.  The property owner stated that he confronted a suspect in the case, identified as 29 year old Rickey L. Carroll, of Miller County, who took the property owner to a location in Bowie County, Texas where he had allegedly disposed of the property.

At approximately 7:40AM, while a Miller County Deputy was on scene investigating the arson and pistol theft, the suspect, Rickey Carroll passed by the residence in a vehicle being driven by a female later identified as 26 year old Jamie Hensley. Deputy Jesse Mathis attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled at high speeds for several miles before coming to a stop.  At that time, both suspects were identified and were arrested for Obstructing Governmental Operations, and Hensley was arrested for fleeing.

Once booked into the Miller County Detention Center, Investigator Thomas Whitt interviewed Carroll, and subsequently charged him with Arson and Theft of Property in reference to the burned camper, stolen firearm, and knives.  The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are anticipated against Carroll.
