The Texas Takeover Tour featuring Mercy Me will take the stage at the historic Perot Theatre Sunday at 6:30.

Opening for Mercy Me will be Micah Tyler. The band Mercy Me got its start in Greenville, Texas, and quickly evolved from being Christian music's fastest-selling new act in 2001 to one of the most successful bands in all musical genres, selling more than 2 million records in only three years and earning an American Music Award nomination.

Now the band, which has been together over 20 years, has grown beyond its label as a "Christian band" and become nationally known as a great rock group that tackles such serious themes as religion and love. Their music is appealing to both devout Christians who study the Bible and young teens who love a good ballad.

The band is made up of the following members Bart Millard vocals, Jim Bryson keyboard, Mike Scheuchzer guitar, Nathan Cochran bass,Barry Graul guitar and Robby Shaffer drums. Singing songs of praise is very much a life-long calling. That commitment has guided the band through the creation of six independent projects, their major label debut and now with their with their latest release lifer that will be released on March 31. Mercy Me has hit the true mainstream in terms of success.
