Mash Bash Blood Drive This Week in Texarkana

Each summer LifeShare Blood Centers hosts the Mash Bash blood drive in hopes of getting enough blood donated to help get through the slow summer months. This two-day event is Wednesday, July 13, and Thursday, July 14. All donors will get a Mash Bash T-shirt and lunch or dinner. 

The blood center is open from 10AM until 8PM for this event.

About one in seven people entering a hospital need blood. One blood donation, approximately one pint of blood, can save up to three lives. Every donation has the potential to save someone’s life. Did you know that one pint of blood can save up to three lives? LifeShare Blood Centers in Texarkana supplies blood to 117 medical facilities in our area.

Summertime is a tough for the blood bank. People are on vacation and their normal routines are interrupted, which means the blood supply at the center in Texarkana gets dangerously low.

Did you also know that it is good for you to donate blood? You can think of it like changing the oil in your car. It's always good to get some of the old blood out that might have too much iron and other minerals in it that can build up and cause health issues.

After blood donation, testing and processing takes a minimum of 24 hours before the blood is available for patient use. Donations of all blood types are needed for constant replenishing.
