Justin Bieber Sets YouTube Record with “Boyfriend”[VIDEO]
Justin Bieber spent weeks hyping the video for his new single "Boyfriend" on Twitter, and now the clip, which finally premiered on Thursday, has set a record for single-day views on YouTube.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, within 24 hours of its premiere, the "Boyfriend" video, which features the singer cavorting with women and surrounded by fast cars, racked up over eight million views, an all-time record. As of Sunday evening, the clip had been viewed over 13 million times.
The record was the result of an organized campaign by Justin's 21 million Twitter followers, and when he received the good news about the record, he tweeted, "that is because of my fans. the #beliebers - i love them. always there for me. im always gonna be there for them. #FAMILY. THANK U."
The most-viewed clip of all time on YouTube is Justin's video for "Baby," which has racked up just under 734 million views in the two years it's been available.
In other Justin news, he was in Las Vegas on Saturday to watch his buddy, superstar boxer Floyd Mayweather, take on Miguel Cotto in a title fight, but he didn't just sit in the audience. People magazine reports that the Bieb actually escorted Mayweather into the ring while carrying two of his championship belts.
After Mayweather won the fight, Justin tweeted, "Hard Work & Dedication . congrats champ. glad i could be a part of it."
