Hour of Prayer at Noon at Downtown Post Office for National Day of Prayer
A local church is holding a lunchtime hour of prayer event during the 65th Annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5, 2016. The entire day is set aside for groups and individuals to pray continuously throughout the day. At noon, individuals can join in on an hour of prayer during the gathering at the Downtown Texarkana Post Office on South State Line Avenue, which sits on both sides of Texarkana.
I participated in the national day of prayer event several years ago. I signed up through my church. Each person was to take shifts of at least one hour and to pray continuously for that hour. It was tough for me to sit alone and think of what to say for an entire hour. Others I'm sure others didn't have the same difficulty. I would much rather join in on a group setting like the one hour of prayer event. Being a part of The National Day of Prayer was very powerful for me.
The theme for 2016 is "Wake Up America," emphasizing the need for individuals, corporate America and individuals to look to God for strength and to not hold back in showing your faith. To highlight this year's theme, Isaiah 58:1a has been chosen as the Scripture which says, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”
